I am trying to bring new recipes to the blog, and that means I have to experiment. A lot of the blogs I follow love overnight oats so I decided to try it. I didn’t wait overnight, but I did let it sit in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes (which seems acceptable based on PB Fingers).
This little baby is 2/3 cups oats, 3 strawberries, 1 Chobani Strawberry Banana Greek Yogurt, a spill or 2 of skim milk, and 2 tsp Chia Seeds, and sprinkled with cinnamon.
In my opinion – it looked prettier than it tasted. One of the things I like about oats is the warmth they have. I love the gooey-ness too though which was way I tried it. I guess I prefer my oats warm and fresh. What about you?
Side Note – I must be in Valentines mode with these colors huh? While it looks like a sweet, festive breakfast treat, my verdict on its deliciousness is out. I guess after successful white chili and lemon bars, I was bound to have a “hmmm–weird” reaction to something.
Overnight Oats Texture….
The texture was eh–chewy and sorta soft. The taste was eh–kind of like you threw oats and yogurt together 20 minutes ago. The feeling after — I feel VERY full. It hasn’t given me energy like a typical lean protein-carb meal would.
I actually feel like cement is setting in my inners. I am wondering if I should have only eaten half of it? I typically keep my breakfast under 250 calories anyways and this had to be around 280 + whatever milk and Chia seeds I threw in.
So….Do I like overnight oats? I’m not sure. At this moment, NOPE!
Did I screw up the “recipe”? What’s your favorite?
Are they something you get used to? I hated Cream of Wheat on the Eat Clean Diet, and now I like it with fruit. However, I never compared it to cement.
