We’re always looking for a great tasting protein bar that fits our macros and isn’t super high in carbs or calories. We’re really excited to share our Built Bar review with you today because this protein bar truly sets the bar (pun intended) high when it comes to high quality and great tasting protein bars!
Oh, I know you’ll get someone who “hates” sweets (crazy person if you ask me) but for the most part, who doesn’t love a great chocolate treat!?!
Add in an exceptional nutritional profile and several yummy flavors to pick from, and you’ve got a winner with Built Bar protein bar!
Each bar is:
- only 110-170 Calories
- with 15-20 g of Protein
- 6-7g of fiber
- only 4-5g of sugar!
They’re gluten free, made with no preservatives, and no artificial color or flavors!
We were intrigued with Breanne Freeman’s Instagram posts sharing about her love of Built Bars. We know her diet is on par, and she loves to get in her protein, so yes, we were intrigued by this protein bar.
Kalee & I decided to go in half-ies on a box.
We started with a mixed box of 14 flavors and 18 bars and split those between us to give it a try.
OH. MY. WORD. Are we hooked!?! YEP!!
My first bite was of orange chocolate creme. See, I love these orange chocolate covered jellies my aunt gets me in Gatlinburg, TN, and I thought we’d see about this Built Bar orange chocolate creme.
How would it compare?
Well, let’s just say YUM!!!
What’s the texture like?
Some people have said the texture is fluffy, marshmallow-like.
HMMM…I don’t know what marshmallows those people are eating??? But we didn’t get that.
We both felt like the bar is more nougat-like and almost soft taffy-like.
The outside is a wonderful thin coating of dark chocolate. Some of the flavors do have milk chocolate coating, but the original flavors are dark.
No cardboard here!! No weird aftertaste either!
Unlike some protein bars, these are not like eating chocolate covered cardboard or have that weird aftertaste.
These, for us, are like eating a candy treat.
Breanne gave us the idea to put them in the fridge for even a tastier treat.
They do not have to be refrigerated, but I will agree with her. I love them chilled!!
Since our initial order a month ago, we ordered 2 more times, and we love every flavor we’ve tried so far!

So are Built Bars healthy?
Well, let’s keep this all in perspective. Built Bars are a protein bar, so even for its exceptional nutritional profile, it’s not meant to be your main source of nutrition.
They can make for a great sweet treat, and Built Bars are a great protein snack.
It’s a yummy way Kalee & I hit our protein macro for the day.
Overall, Built Bars fit well into a balanced diet.
Overall for most people, Built Bars fit well into a healthy balanced diet.
Due to the whey isolate protein though, vegans and vegetarians will want to avoid them.
How many WW points is a Built Bar?
They are 3 to 4 points depending on which flavor you pick.
How many net carbs does a Built Bar have?
Built bars have a great breakdown of protein, fat, and carbs giving the bars a net carb count of 7grams.
How many calories per bar?
The bars range from 110 to 170 calories. The higher protein bars with 20 grams ring in at 170 calories. Those bars with 18 grams of protein range from 130 to 160, and those coming in at 15 grams of protein are 110 calories.
Will Built Bars help you lose weight?
They aren’t marketed that way. They are a great tasty treat and good way to get in a great source of protein.
So while they aren’t for weight loss necessarily, we would say that having this as your sweet treat vs a King Size Snickers, will help you reach your weight loss goals.
What are the Bars made of?
As I mentioned above, they contain whey protein isolate instead of casein or lactose. Whey is a more expensive protein, but it is tolerated better by those who have issues with dairy.
The whey protein is a complete protein which gives you those amino acids and is highly digestible.
In addition to the whey protein isolate, the Built Bars contain:
- Fiber: Maltodexrin
- Sweeteners: Erythritol, Glycerin, Chocolate
- Natural Sweeteners & no food coloring
Built Bar has no artificial preservatives.
You can check out more about each on their nutritional page.
Where can you buy Built Bars?
Right now you can only buy Built Bars on their website.
Plus, you earn gift certificates on each order. It’s usually not much, but it’s still nice to have towards your next order.
Built Bar Coupon Code
