Why I Chose Caraway

After swapping to cleaner home products, we realized our cookware needed an upgrade too. The cream Caraway set checked every box — it’s ceramic-coated, nonstick, and safer for our family, all while looking beautiful in the kitchen.

Here’s what made it stand out to us:

  • Non-toxic: Free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, and cadmium — chemicals and heavy metals that can release harmful fumes or leach into food over time.
  • Mineral-based coating: Ceramic coatings are made from natural minerals and don’t emit fumes like traditional Teflon-based pans — giving you a safer cooking experience without the worry.
  • Easy to use and clean: Naturally nonstick and quick to wipe down — no harsh scrubbing or synthetic sprays needed.
  • Beauty: The neutral colors, magnetic pan racks, and canvas lid holder make storage simple and stylish.
  • Versatile: Works beautifully on gas, electric, and induction stovetops.

Cons You Should Know About

1. Exterior Scuffs on Light Colors

We went with the cream set, and while it’s beautiful, it can show wear more easily than darker colors — especially on the bottoms.

With that said, our set is still looking good! We use a Scrub Daddy and Caraway’s soap when stains appear — it only takes a few minutes and keeps everything looking new.

2. Not Dishwasher Safe

You’ll need to hand wash these to protect the ceramic coating. This is common for most cookware nowadays though.

3. Handles Get Hot in the Oven

This is not unique to Caraway, but worth noting — the stainless handles heat up quickly. Keep an oven mitt handy!

4. No Nonstick Lasts Forever

This is true for every brand. Caraway says the ceramic nonstick is “designed to last years” with proper care.

After 4 months of daily use, ours is still slick and looks great — but we’ll update this post at the one-year mark.

5. Higher Price Point

Caraway cookware is more expensive than traditional nonstick sets, but for us, the peace of mind that it’s toxin-free and well-made is worth it.

To go even further, we don’t think it’s really fair to even compare it to other nonstick sets because of the toxins other cookware sets could release.

Pros I Love About Caraway

After reading the cons, you might wonder if we still think it’s worth it — and honestly, yes.

These are the things that keep us reaching for our Caraway pans every single day:

1. Easy to Cook With + Clean

Food slides right off, even with minimal oil, and cleanup is genuinely quick. We hand wash everything and it still looks brand new after four months of daily use.

2. Truly Non-Toxic

For us, the biggest win is knowing these pans are free from PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, and cadmium — ingredients that can release toxins or leach into food. With Caraway, we don’t have to second-guess what’s touching our meals.

3. Beautiful Design + Storage

The magnetic pan rack and canvas lid holder make it easy to keep things tidy — no more stacking or scratching. And the neutral cream color makes our kitchen feel lighter and cleaner.

4. Even Heating on Gas and Electric

We’ve tested our cookware on both gas and electric (glass-top) stoves, and it performs beautifully on both. It heats evenly and holds temperature well, even at lower heat settings.

5. Pretty and easy to store

From the packaging to the handle design, everything feels intentional. It’s clear Caraway thought about how people actually use their cookware day to day.

How to Make Your Set Look New & Last Longer

Just like anything, how you take care of it matters. Here are some tips we’ve learned over the last few months to keep our Caraway looking fresh and cooking well!

Heat

Keep it on low to medium heat. A quick preheat with a little oil (skip aerosol sprays) is all you need. High heat can wear down any nonstick surface faster — that’s true across all brands.

I was honestly worried about cooking on such low heat. I was used to cooking on medium or medium high with my old cookware, but honestly I end up keeping my Caraway on low to low-medium, and it cooks well!

Hand-washing

If something sticks, simmer a little soapy water, then use a non-abrasive sponge inside. For tougher exterior stains, a stronger sponge and high-strength detergent do the trick. (We love using a Scrub Daddy and Caraway’s soap.)

Don’t use metal utensils

You can use wood, silicone, or nylon utensils. You don’t want to use metal or it could scratch the coating. Caraway’s Utensil set is net up on our wishlist.

They say the scratch wouldn’t cause the level of potential toxins, but we’re just sticking with no scratching it.

Is Caraway Safe?

Caraway’s ceramic nonstick is made without any toxic materials, FDA-approved for food contact, and completely free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, and cadmium.

They also state that no harmful materials can leach into your food — even if a pan is scratched or overheated.

That peace of mind was a big part of why we chose this set.

Where Is Caraway Made?

All products are made in BSCI/SMETA-certified factories where workers are safe, paid fairly, and work regulated hours.

That commitment to ingredient safety and ethical production matters deeply to us — our whole brand centers on helping women lower their toxic load through simple, sustainable swaps, cookware included.

Is Caraway Worth It?

If you want beautiful, lower-tox cookware that’s easy to clean, heats evenly on low–medium, and looks stunning in your kitchen — we’d say yes.

Just keep expectations realistic: no nonstick lasts forever, and Caraway is best used for everyday cooking, not high-heat searing. Pair it with a cast iron or stainless steel pan, and you’ll have the perfect balance.

We are very happy with the value of this Caraway Cookware set, and we love the cream!

Our top picks: The Dutch oven (soup pot) and 10.5” skillet — the two we reach for most.
