Before we found Hugh & Grace’s Cleaning Concentrate, we cleaned with Scrubbing Bubbles and Clorox wipes.
But every time we used them…we’d get headaches. And for years, we just accepted that. It felt normal—until we actually started to read and research the ingredients.
That’s when everything changed. Why would you want to bring hazardous chemicals into your home?!
As we started learning more, we discovered those wipes were loaded with hazardous chemicals—known to cause allergies, irritation, and even hormone disruption with prolonged exposure. Some studies even suggest they’re no more effective than soap and water.
We tried a few “green” alternatives like Grove, but we always felt like we had to choose between something that worked and something that wouldn’t poison us. That is—until we found Hugh & Grace’s Cleaning Concentrate.
What Is the Hugh & Grace Cleaning Concentrate?
Hugh & Grace’s Cleaning Concentrate is a plant-based, glass-packaged cleaner that actually works—without irritating your lungs, your skin, or your conscience.
It’s a 4 oz bottle of concentrated cleaner made with coconut-derived surfactants and anti-microbial plant extracts. It’s naturally scented, highly effective, and super versatile.
You mix it with water to make either a multi-purpose or deep cleaner, depending on your needs.
And the best part? One little bottle has lasted us over 5 months.

Why We Love This Cleaner
It actually cleans — stove tops, tile grout, and even dog puke on a light gray couch.
I love using it to clean up after dinner each night because it makes everything so shiny and new-looking!
It doesn’t stink — no harsh bleach, no fake lemon, no headaches.
It’s non-toxic — hormone-safe, endocrine disruptor-free, and no “fragrance” mystery ingredients.
The scent is light, like fresh cucumber citrus water — enough to feel clean, not overpowering.
It’s safe around babies, pets, autoimmune issues, and anyone with skin or breathing sensitivities.
One of the big reasons this stuck? I knew if it gave me a headache, it wasn’t good for my 10-lb Shih Tzu either—and she’s basically my baby.

What We’ve Cleaned With It
Here’s just a sampling of where we’ve used this cleaner:
- Kitchen: sinks, stovetop, cutting boards, stainless steel
- Bathroom: toilets, shower grout, sinks, tile floors
- Pet messes: litter boxes, crates, couch stains, floors
- General surfaces: baseboards, mirrors, glass, doors, decks, tires
While we don’t have babies, we’ve also been told it works well on baby items like cribs, high chairs, car seats, and diaper pails.
“It’s the first ‘natural, non-tox’ home cleaner that actually worked for me. Even cleans my mirrors and glass perfectly!”
“It’s the only thing that got the puppy-pee smell out of my couch!”

What’s the Hugh & Grace Cleaner Made of?
This ingredient list is what sold us:
- Cucumber Fruit Water – for a gentle, natural scent
- Orange Blossom Flower Water – subtle citrus + antibacterial support
- Coconut-Derived Surfactants – actually break down dirt and grease
- Pentylene Glycol – antimicrobial + humectant derived from sugarcane
- Lemongrass Oil – fresh scent + natural antimicrobial power
None of the stuff we want to avoid: no harsh chemicals, no synthetic fragrance, no hormone-disrupting preservatives.

How to Use It
You’ll need to mix the cleaning concentrate with water to use it.
Multi-Purpose Spray: Mix 1 part concentrate to 16 oz water
Deep Cleaner: Mix 2 parts concentrate to 16 oz water
One bottle makes 4 bottles of multipurpose spray or 2 bottles of deep cleaner. We use amber glass bottles (but you could grab one off Amazon too).
Tip: We like to pour in about 14 oz of water to our glass bottles then add in the cleaning solution. This fits the Hugh & Grace bottles well and keeps anything from spilling over.
Why Cleaning Products Affected Our Health More Than We Realized
I’ve struggled with perioral dermatitis and unpredictable cycles. My mom has Crohn’s.
So we’ve spent the last few years slowly detoxing our routines—what we eat, use on our skin, and clean our homes with.
This cleaner checked all the boxes:
- Gentle
- Effective
- Affordable
- Truly clean
Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?
100% yes. It’s one of those rare finds that combines function, health, and simplicity—and it’s earned a permanent place in our cabinets.
