Keto pimento cheese dip is a Southern classic. We grew up on this recipe, and we didn’t even think about it being low-carb until just this month. Now, we’re sharing our favorite keto pimento cheese recipe with you!
It’s a little different than our grandmother’s recipe because it uses cream cheese versus Velveeta.
What is Pimento Cheese?
Pimento Cheese is a Southern spread made up of sharp cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, and pimentos. Most recipes also call for Velveeta or cream cheese to make it extra creamy. All of the ingredients are mixed together and served on bread, vegetables or crackers.
Is Pimento Cheese Spread Keto-Friendly?
Yes, most pimento cheese recipes are keto-friendly and low carb. Typically an entire batch only has 1-2 carbs in it! Our dip recipe below has 1 net carb per serving. You can eat it by itself or dip vegetables in it to keep it low carb as well.
Is Store-Bought Pimento Cheese Dip Keto?
Typically, store-bought pimento cheese dip is keto. Keep in mind, brands can label something as 0 carbs even it has .5g in it though. If you were to have a double serving of about 4 tablespoons, it could be close to 1 gram of carbs.
Pimento Cheese Snacks
A few ways we eat pimento cheese are:
- dipping our vegetables or crackers in it
- topping our eggs with a tablespoon or two
- putting it inside or on top of a burger
- making a grilled pimento cheese sandwich
- enjoying plain pimento cheese sandwich
- creating a cheeseball

As we mentioned above, we serve this dip a lot of different ways. Along with the options above, you can also serve this keto pimento cheese recipe as a topping on chicken breast, inside a wrap or as part of a grazing platter with crackers and vegetables.
What Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Pimento Cheese
You’ll need:
- 2 Cups Shredded Extra-Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 8 Ounces Cream Cheese
- 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
- 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 Teaspoon Onion Powder
- 4 Ounce Jar Diced Pimentos, drained
- 1/4 Cup diced jalapeños
We personally like a little spice so we added 1/4 cup diced jalapeños to our recipe. If you’re trying to make this 0 carbs or just don’t like spice, omit them from the recipe.

Oh I love the sound of this cheese dip. I will definitely give this a try this weekend. I’m throwing a garden party. My guests will love this!
Is there an error in the portion size? I gram is less than 1/2 teaspoon. Is it supposed to be something else?
The recipe is only 1 net carb per serving, and it serves 12. So it should be bigger than a 1/2 teaspoon.
I love this stuff!!! I added a can of well drained green chilies to give it a bit of a kick without going full on jalapeños and it was perfect. Spread on a low carb tortilla and cut into 1” pieces and it was gone in minutes! Thanks for the recipe’
