When we can learn what our readers need and give it to them our blog’s success and traffic will explode.
Each post that you make should express your unique experience, knowledge or passion.
It should also connect your reader to a next step after reading your content. A next step might be signing up for your newsletter, joining your Facebook group, buying a product or working with you personally.

11 Tips to Create Content Your Readers Love
1) Know why you’re blogging
Are you blogging to gain clients, grow an email list, share your knowledge with a certain group of people? Keep this overarching why in your mind as you create content because it will help tailor in your message to your overall goal.
2) Share what you know
Your content should reflect what you’re passionate about and have experience with. When you are blogging about what people frequently ask you about, you’ll always have something new to share that is relevant and unique.
3) Know your reader
In our opinion, the best content answers a readers question or problem. The best way to know what they need is to find out what they’re talking about and asking.
A few ways to know what your reader wants are:
- Join Facebook groups on your topic and see what they are asking
- Search your topic on Pinterest and look at the amount of repins each subtopic has
- Offer reviews of the products you use, love or hate that fit your topic
- Just ask! Your friends and readers will often tell you what they want to know more about
4) Brainstorm ideas for 15 minutes then consolidate
Whether you struggle with too many ideas or not enough, a 15-minute brainstorm can help you come up with ideas and focus them on your blog’s main categories. Then you can create content around those areas.
5) Keep Ideas Close
We keep ideas for content on my phone in the Notes app all the time. You may be at the store and an idea hits. I have outlined a blog post while sitting at the pool, trying to go to sleep or driving. By saving the ideas on your phone, you always have new ideas coming in.
6) Allow Yourself to Write Freely
One thing that creates a barrier in creating content is worrying about it being perfect. Allow yourself to freely write about a topic for a set amount of time (20 minutes or so). Then, you can always go back and edit it to make the content easier to read and fix grammar mistakes.
7) Create Content then Edit, Edit, Edit.
You want those freely written words to be presented in a clear, scannable way. After you’ve written your content, go back and add in headers, spaces, bullet points and a call to action.
8) Read
One of the best ways to gain ideas and improve your own writing is to read. After reading a blog post, book or guide ask youself why you liked or didn’t like about it. You can subscribe to your favorite blogs and have them consolidated in one place using Bloglovin.
I also love (our affiliate) Audible for audiobooks. Listening to a variety of biographies, fiction, and non-fiction books have helped my writing tremendously.
9) Create a Routine
We’ll dig into 2 ways to organize ideas and create content: an editorial calendar and batching. You just want to make sure you have a blogging routine to keep you on track with your goals.
10) Be Consistent
It’s so much better to write one great blog post a week than to have published 5 posts one week and then a month later jump on and do 2 more. Your blog and content should be creating a relationship with each reader, and that means continually showing up and providing your unique value to them. It’s totally okay to set your goal low and then work up to more posts per week.
11) Review and Revise
Every quarter it’s important to go back and look at your results. We usually take as much as a day each month to go back and see what post did the best, as well as, what posts need to be updated.
This is also a great time to see if you’re staying focused on why you blog. Is your content matching your overall goals?
Another thing to review is to see where your traffic is coming from. If you’re spending the same amount of time on Facebook and Pinterest, but Pinterest is bringing in 4x the traffic consider changing up your Facebook routine and so forth.
