If you’re looking for an honest CookUnity review to see if it’s actually worth it, here’s what we found after trying several meals.
Every meal is chef-created, restaurant-quality, and is delivered to your door. It comes packed in an insulated bag on ice, and everything is so fresh!

It’s also been helpful for busy work days, quick lunches or dinners, and on nights when everyone wants something different for dinner.
In this Cook Unity review, we’re sharing what we liked, what we didn’t, and whether it’s actually worth it.

What is Cook Unity?
CookUnity is a subscription-based meal delivery service that sends chef-prepared meals directly to your door. The meals are never frozen, contain minimally processed ingredients, and are ready in minutes.
We also love that the meals come prepared in sustainable packaging (versus plastic).
They offer over 300 meals to pick from including vegetarian, vegan, keto, paleo, and gluten-free options.
The healthy meal delivery service is especially great for busy professionals, singles, empty nesters, and seniors.
Compared to other meal delivery services we’ve tried, Cook Unity has been one of the best in terms of both flavor and variety.

Can you lose weight with CookUnity meals?
If you want to lose weight, I’d suggest filtering CookUnity’s meals to look at the low calorie, high protein, paleo, GLP-based, or keto options. These are more tailored to a weight loss goal compared to rest of their meals.
The ability to get both meals tailored to weight loss, as well as, just tasty meals with minimally processed ingredients makes it a great option for families compared to other meal services that just cater to weight loss.

How the Meals Taste
We all know meal delivery services are convenient, but it doesn’t matter if the meals don’t taste good.
CookUnity’s meals have been surprisingly good.
The texture and flavor are really good.
Unlike other meal delivery services where many of the meals taste the same, CookUnity meals have all offered their own unique flavor.

What We Would Order Again
If you’re not sure where to start, these were some of our favorites:
- Adobo Chicken Quesadillas
- Southwestern Chicken Burrito Bowl
- Grilled Chicken with Truffle-Mashed Potatoes
- Bacon-Truffle Chicken Salad
We’d order all of these again.

Convenience and Packaging
Everything we’ve ordered has arrived on time and packaged really well in an insulated bag.
The meals are compact, so they don’t take up a lot of fridge space.
One thing I really like is that the containers are not plastic.
And overall, this is one of the easiest options we’ve found. I love that we don’t have to grocery shop, cook, or clean up a messy kitchen!
What We Like Most About Cook Unity
- Large rotating menu with lots of options
- Wide range of meal options for different preferences
- Weight loss friendly meals offered
- Meals taste good and feel like real, home-cooked food
- Ready in just a few minutes
- Works for different preferences (including picky eaters)
- More convenient than cooking or ordering takeout
Price
It is more expensive than cooking at home.
But compared to fast food or takeout, it’s very reasonable especially considering the quality and convenience.
You’ll also need some fridge space, but the containers are pretty compact.
Is CookUnity Healthy?
As someone who’s been in the health and wellness space for years, we are always looking for options that are both practical and actually enjoyable to eat.
Overall, Cook Unity makes that easier. You can choose high protein, paleo, low calorie, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
We don’t follow anything super strict, but we do try to make better choices most of the time—and this fits really well into that.
If you’re also working on your nutrition, you might like our gluten-free, dairy-free recipes or Best Sugar Free Desserts.

Cook Unity vs Factor: Which is Better?
We’ve tried several healthy meal delivery services over the years, and compared to Factor, CookUnity is better in both taste and variety.
Factor meals all kind of tasted the same to us. The texture of the meat was also sometimes off – either chewy or tough.
CookUnity offers a larger variety of meals and ingredients, and there is something for everyone if you’re trying to find an option for a family of 2+.
The price of each is comparable. Each service is about $11-14 per meal before any discounts.

Is Cook Unity Worth It?
CookUnity is worth it if you want fresh, chef-made meals that taste good without cooking every night. The meals are not frozen, and the quality is noticeably better than typical meal delivery services. With over 300 options—including high-protein, gluten-free, and vegetarian meals—it offers strong variety for different needs.
At around $11–$13 per meal, it’s more expensive than cooking but often cheaper than takeout. The main downsides are that meals must be eaten within a few days since they’re fresh, and some can be higher in sodium.

Do CookUnity meals go in the fridge or freezer?
CookUnity meals arrive fresh in an insulated bag with ice packs. You can store them in the refrigerator and enjoy them within 3-7 days.
The meals contain no preservatives though so if you’re eating them after 7 days, you need to freeze them.
We personally don’t recommend freezing them though because the texture can change with the sauces and greens. If you do freeze them, we recommend storing them in an airtight container and letting them completely thaw in the refrigerator before heating them up.

No, you don’t have to be home for your delivery; however, it’s best to be able to bring the order inside shortly after it’s delivered since it’s fresh food.
