I bought a Fitbit Versa a few months ago, and I loved how easy it was to use! It is missing a few features I’d like though. I’ll dig into the pros and cons of the Versa to help you decide if it’s worth buying one for yourself.

Should you get a Fitbit Versa Review

Fitbit Versa Review

The Fitbit Versa tracks your steps, distance and calories burned and displays it right under the clock! I love how clear it is to read.

It can also track your sleep, heart rate, stairs climbed, active minutes and how long you are stationary.

It also alerts you each hour to make sure you’re getting at least 250 steps.

What I Love About the Fitbit Versa

It’s very easy to use.

I love how clearly you can see your steps, distance and calories burned. You can download an app to your phone to track your results for the week as well.

Weekly Tracker

I also set up my notifications to send me a summary of my activity each week. I liked being able to compete against myself each week.

Support & Accountability

Unlike the Apple Watch, the accountability piece is woven into the Fitbit app on the phone. You can just click a tab and see all kinds of challenges you can join in on.

You can also share your activity with friends and compete, but this is also a feature on the Apple Watch.

Alerts & Badges

I never thought I’d be the one to like seeing badges & personal bests, but I did really enjoy it! I liked the little fireworks when I hit 10,000 steps and seeing more badges popping up.

Another cool feature is that the Versa will buzz each hour if you haven’t walked 250 steps. (Apple Watch does something similar as well).

Where the Watch Falls Short

I wish the watch had a speaker or at least a microphone. I know some prefer their watch to not be able to hear them (#Skynet), but I like the convenience of voice commands like: “Text Kim” or “What time is my alarm set for?”

You cannot use voice commands, text from or call from your Versa. You can receive texts if you connect it to bluetooth, but this drove me nuts since I couldn’t reply without getting my phone.

FAQs

How much does the Fitbit Versa cost?

The best place I’ve found is Amazon (view the current price here).

They sometimes run them on sale, but the retail price is $199.

Is the Fitbit Versa Worth It?

If your goal is to track your fitness and calorie burn, absolutely!!

I know I mentioned not liking that it didn’t have a ton of other features besides fitness-based ones, but honestly – it also kept me focused on my goals. I kind of liked not having the distractions that I have on my phone.

Can you listen to music from your Fitbit Versa?

You can connect bluetooth to listen to your music, but the actual watch doesn’t play it. I don’t know of a watch that does.

Can you talk on the Fitbit Versa?

No, it doesn’t have a microphone or speaker so you can’t talk on it.

Can you text on the Fitbit Versa?

You can receive text messages if you enable the feature and Wi-Fi on your phone. You cannot send texts through the Versa though.

FitBit Versa vs Apple Watch Review3

Is the Apple Watch Better than the Fitbit Versa?

It honestly depends on what you want. The Apple Watch allows you to text and call from it, and it also has more apps.

The fitness app is a little harder to use though. It’s also tempting to get sucked into other apps and distractions.

So I think if you want a purely fitness watch, the Fitbit Versa is the best thing out there!

If you want a smartwatch that also tracks fitness, check out the Apple Watch or our comparison of the two.

Have you tried a smartwatch or fitness tracker before?

What did you think?
