We love mixing in spinach into our smoothies because it’s an easy way to sneak in a vegetable, vitamins, and fiber into your meal! With the banana, you can’t taste it! We also love adding spinach to our Chocolate Shakeology!

On the 21 Day Fix meal plan, this would be 1 Green, 1 Purple, 2 Yellow, 1/2 Tablespoon. You can also add in protein powder or Shakeology for a Red container. (Learn more about Ultimate Portion Fix)

Should I use frozen or fresh banana in this smoothie?

You can use frozen or fresh bananas in this recipe. Both are great options! The frozen banana can be convenient, keep the smoothie cold without watering it down and also give it a creamier texture though.

We freeze our bananas when they’re getting too ripe. Just peel them and throw them in a freezer-safe Ziplock.

Simple Vegan Spinach and Banana Smoothie Benefits

Both spinach and banana are fiber-rich foods, and fiber can help us feel full longer (1)!

We also prefer a smoothie over juicing because when you’re juicing, you remove a lot of the fiber from the process. Smoothies keep the fiber in it!

The smoothie is also rich in potassium which fights against increased blood pressure and stops muscle weakness (2).

This smoothie also helps you get in 2 of your 5 servings of fruits and vegetables recommended by the American Cancer Society. We’ve found increasing our whole foods and vegetables can be a great way to feel our best!
